Who are you? Celebrated Italian rapper and educator, Amir Issaa will present a two-part workshop on the power of finding and using your voice. First, Amir will share his story: from growing up in a multicultural neighborhood of Rome, as the son of an Egyptian immigrant father and an Italian mother, to the identity crisis that silenced him. He will then discuss how he found his voice through Hip-Hop and used music as a tool to explore his multiple identities. Second, Amir will encourage workshop participants to use songwriting as a means to express themselves and their identities across languages. Join for a multilingual, musical event! This workshop is part of the Center’s Pedagogy in Practice Series. Students and Teaching Candidates across disciplines are encouraged to attend.
